What is included?
The audit will look at your legal responsibilities in areas such as the business structure, employing staff, carrying on business (including the ‘small print’), being aware of your customers and data protection and security issues.
In carrying out the audit we will review:
1. Your overall business model in order that we can identify how you trade and what the ‘paper trail’ looks like;
2. Use the information gathered to advise your decision makers on the strengths and weaknesses of your legal position, either during the audit or at some other convenient time;
3. Review your business set up structure. Should you be a company (if not already) or an LLP or a partnership? What would the benefits be of having shareholder agreements or partnership agreements in place?
4. Do you have the new discipline and grievance procedures in place?
5. What are you doing about personal data? Do you comply with the Act? Do you have an appropriate policy regarding your employees’ data and personal emails? Are you registered for Data Protection?
6. What is your customer base? If they are quick turnover and constantly changing, how can you better protect yourself against their inability to pay? How can you check them out?
7. Are your internal systems proof against fraud, whether external or internal?
We will feed back on findings at a meeting with decision makers and advise generally what needs to be done and how to do it. We will confirm in writing what was discovered, the matters to be addressed and make clear what matters are considered to be extremely important.
